What is Gear Oil EP 90?

ITR Lubricants Gear Oil EP 90 is a high-level performance quality lubricant classified as heavy gear oil. Gearbox oil is formulated for the transmission, differentials, and transfer cases of your automobiles, trucks, or machinery.

The lubricant is high viscosity to protect and transfer gear oil in the entire gear system. The oil is associated with the sulfur smell that emanates from extreme pressure lubrication additives required by hypoid gears.

Gear EP 90 is an SAE 90 gear oil designed and recommended for spiral bevel, hybrid, or worm gear transmission systems. The cars, trucks, or machine gears must require extreme pressure protection that meets API GL -4 API specifications.

What does EP Gear Oil Mean?

The EP in the gear oil EP 90 means extreme pressure additives for lubricants. The EP additives reduce the friction and heat in gear systems exposed to high pressure. The function protects your vehicle from the damage of wear and tear.

Extreme pressure additives blend organic sulfur, chlorine, and phosphorus. The additives also contain sulfur-phosphorus and sulfur-boron-phosphorus compounds, chemicals that effectively protect the gears from shock load friction and an extreme temperature range of 300-1,000°C.

What is EP 80W90 Gear Oil?

EP 80W90 is a mineral-based lubricant formulated for a wide range of automobiles. The gear oil is a multi-viscosity type of single-viscosity 90 gear lubricant. The “W” in the rating stands for “winter.” The oil is designed for winter seasons or freezing climates.

You can use EP80W90 gear oil for various applications, including transaxles, gear systems, differentials, track rollers, transfer boxes, and manual gearboxes.

What is 75W90 Gear Oil?

75W90 is a synthetic gear lubricant purely made from additives and synthetic base oils. The lubricant has high resistance to corrosion and provides reliable gearbox lubrication. The multigrade lubricant has a 90 kinematic viscosity at 75W flow of up to -40°C temperatures, where “W” is winter.

The gearbox oil is not viscous but has high shear stability that can withstand the gearbox’s high loads. 75W90 gear oil is anti-corrosion and has good wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Viscosity is a measure of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is the most important physical attribute for lubricating oil. Viscosity is also useful for the identification of grades of oil and for following the performance of oils in service.

An increase in the oil’s viscosity during use usually indicates that the oil has deteriorated to some extent; a decrease normally indicates dilution with fuel.

SAE stands for the Society of Automotive Engineers, based in the USA. The SAE grade specifies the most important parameters for engine oil, mainly its viscosity.
